Luminalt hires more employees from workforce development programs than any other solar installer in San Francisco.

Solar Industry Magazine released an article this morning about the funding cuts facing GoSolarSF, San Francisco’s solar incentive program begun in 2008. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, who spoke of Luminalt’s contributions to San Francisco’s preeminence in solar during the opening address at Intersolar this year.

Jeanine Cotter, Luminalt’s CEO and an avid proponent of local workforce development, was quoted extensively in the article:

“This provides an opportunity for us to get our youth trained and up to speed and in a growing industry that is sustainable,” Cotter says, adding that while the program may not result in a large number of jobs, it is about quality, not quantity.
“Folks will criticize that it’s not creating a lot of jobs, but what it is creating is sustainable, long-term jobs,” she says.
