Luminalt’s VP of Engineering August Goers will be teaching a free course on commercial solar thermal systems at PG&E’s Pacific Energy Center on Tuesday, November 8th from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. This all day class will cover key aspects of large-scale solar water heating systems for commercial applications. The course, co-taught by Pacific Energy Center’s director Pete Shoemaker and seasoned industry expert John Grose, will cover assessing potential clients, site analysis, system sizing and design, and financials. They will highlight concepts and technology that differentiate these larger systems from residential ones, such as recirculation loops, handling and location of storage, and access issues. Using a variety of case studies, they will walk through the process from bid through installation and commissioning.

They recommend that students have a strong basic understanding of solar water heating systems, so if you’re just beginning to explore installing solar hot water for your own business or multi-family residential building, feel free to Contact Us with any questions.
