This past Tuesday night, Jeanine spoke to Rachel’s Network, a network of women inspired by Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring, who are dedicated to effectively supporting conservation efforts. Rachel’s Network includes a range of outspoken women with a common goal to serve as effectors of change. Jeanine spoke to members during their Fall Retreat in San Francisco on the Green Economy, and her goal to make it an Inclusive Economy.

During the evening meeting, Jeanine shared with Rachel’s Network her vision for Luminalt:

“We’re passionate, relentless, and care deeply about our community and quality of life here. What I’ve learned, and learn every day, is that if you expect great things from people, most will deliver great things. Held to a high standard, human beings treated fairly and with respect will model that behavior. And over time, you create a customer-focused accountable organization that does phenomenally good work that has engaged a stable workforce.”

Over the coming years, Jeanine said:

“We should be taking this opportunity to expand who is working in green jobs, we should be actively recruiting entry level employees from underrepresented populations. Get in a broad bench. Get women and people of color in. The number of women represented in leadership positions in this industry is an embarrassment.”

Speakers at the retreat included David Hochschild, who worked with Jeanine on GoSolarSF, and Melanie Nutter, Director of the San Francisco Department of the Environment.
