During the trip, she and others are sharing with top lawmakers how clean energy and energy efficiency measures are creating jobs and contributing to local economic development. Meetings are being held with Republican and Democratic Senators and Members of the House of Representatives and staff, including Senators Richard Burr (R- NC), Mike Lee (R-UT), Mark Warner (D-VA), Tim Scott (R-SC),Dan Coats (R-IN) and Chris Coons (D-DE); U.S. Representatives Peter Roskam (R-IL), Dan Benishek (R-MI), Bob Latta (R-OH); and others.
“One thing that we all agree on is that we need jobs and a trained competitive workforce. Solar, wind and energy efficiency create quality jobs which cannot be outsourced and move us towards energy independence” says Cotter.
Cotter has long been at the forefront of working with lawmakers to help them create policies that encourage the growth of jobs in this sector. Under her leadership, Luminalt became the first solar installer to become workforce development certified under San Francisco’s innovative GoSolarSF solar incentive program. Cotter is a member of the San Francisco Workforce Investment Board, Mayor Ed Lee’s 100% Renewable Energy Task Force, the San Francisco Solar Task Force, and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Advisory Council.
