PG&E is currently interconnecting solar systems under NEM 2.0. The CPUC released a proposed NEM 3.0 decision on November 10th, 2022. The proposed decision foreshadows the new NEM 3.0 to start for interconnection applications submitted to PG&E sometime in April 2023. It dramatically reduces the value of solar for systems under NEM 3.0. Over the next several weeks, advocates will fight to make the decision better for solar before it is finalized. As a direct result of the great advocacy of solar supporters, systems that are interconnected to PG&E’s grid under the current NEM 2.0 and the prior NEM 1.0 remain protected for the original 20 years.
