Position Name: Solar Installer Trainee/ Solar Installer
Expected Work Time: Monday-Thursday 7am-5:30pm (4/10’s)
Compensation: $19/hr to $36/hr + benefits – depends on experience

We are looking for solar and energy storage system installers of all levels to join our team. Employment is conditional based on passing a pre-employment drug screening, background check, and DMV record check. Luminalt verifies US employment eligibility through E-Verify.

Job Duties:

  • Assemble, install, or maintain Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics
  • Assess the job site, identify and resolve any potential hazards
  • Create or interpret the PV and energy storage installation plans, mapping out the steps of the installation and where all of the components will be installed
  • Weatherproof the PV installation in accordance with local safety regulations and the specifications of the manufacturer
  • Build PV racking, equipment mounting, conduit bending, electrical wiring, and daily cleanup

We will train motivated individuals to become expert solar and energy storage installers.

Required Skills:

To perform some or all of the following tasks in a safe manner:

  • Use of hand and power tools
  • Work at heights and on ladders
  • General electrical work such as wiring and conduit bending
  • Take precise measurements and apply them to construction projects
  • System layout and planning
  • Rooftop racking construction and panel mounting
  • Carpentry and metal working
  • System troubleshooting
  • Onsite customer communication and interaction
  • Miscellaneous labor work such as jobsite cleanup and van organization
  • Keep and complete timesheets

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid  CA driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Vaccinated
  • Strong desire to work in the solar energy business
  • Strong desire to work hands-on out in the field
  • Experience working in residential or commercial construction such as solar, electrical, roofing, or carpentry trades is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Self directed, independent, and solution oriented
  • Safety oriented – able to work on rooftops and on construction sites in a safe manner

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outside for extended periods of time

  • Interpret and follow a variety of instructions and procedures furnished in English – written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to work overtime occasionally at the last minute
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Drive a work vehicle including full sized trucks and vans
  • Lift, push, pull or carry heavy objects
